Jose's second foray into independent film directing won four festival awards, and was featured in over 20 national festivals. Poe auditions to host his own TV show. Humiliating! This was conceived as a teaser for a TV show which would feature actual characters from Poe's life reenacting his stories. 

Jose wrote, directed, voiced, animated, rendered, and composited every frame of it.

The mysterious stranger.  In subsequent takes, Poe yells "I'm trapped" in homage to his story "The Pre-mature Burial."

Jose always got the impression that Poe had a very insecure and self-doubting personality - a tragic-comic persona - something not present in most depictions of the author.  It was easy for Jose to voice a character he had become so familiar with over 25 years of study.

Jose designed the movie poster which helped promote the film at numerous festivals.
Jose was determined to make the character as authentic as possible.  He conducted exhaustive research for over 15 years, and traveled to Richmond and Baltimore to gather reference photograpy of the real Poe.
